This four way collaboration between the IMOD Majumdar Group (University of Washington), Xu, Barnard and Chu Groups (all also University of Washington), describes a method to control and tune the light-matter interaction in nanophotonic resonators, crucial building blocks for quantum devices.
Using a piezoelctronic strain cell, essentially controlling the strain of the material by mechanically squashing or stretching the component, at the atomic level, the team demonstrated mechanisms to control the properties of the material., paving the way for quantum optical applications in advanced devices.
