Georgia Institute of Technology
Guoxiang (Emma) Hu is an Assistant Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering and an adjunct faculty member in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Georgia Tech. Her research group develops and applies computational methods which integrate scientific machine learning with quantum mechanical modeling at different levels of theory to enable accurate and efficient studies of complex electrochemical interfaces and quantum materials. Her work focuses on elucidating the atomic-level mechanisms of energy harvesting, storage, and conversion, and establishing structure-property relationships for knowledge and data-driven materials design. Through close collaborations with experimental groups, Emma’s team advances research on achieving atomic precision and automation in materials discovery. Her research program has secured funding from the NSF, DOE, and ACS PRF, and she was awarded the 2025 NSF CAREER Award.
