2025 Building Better Teams Series

Part of the IMOD Professional Development Program

Part 07: Building Team Trust

Trust is critical for a team to perform. Participants need to feel safe to effective share ideas and disagree in a constructive fashion. You don’t need to be friends with your teammates (though it does help), but you do need to trust them. We walk through how a new team member can build trust, and how existing team members can foster an environment of trust.

This series is adapted from a hybrid and in-person series delivered by IMOD in early 2025. Participants in the series engaged in discussion around these topics and earned a LinkedIN certificate.

This series draws primarily on two sources. The NIH Collaboration and Team Science Field Guide and the Strategies for Team Science Success Handbook. We have also drawn from a number of other key sources.
