IMOD Building Better Science Teams Certificate
More than ever, progress on complex scientific problems requires a team of scientists working across disciplines. Productive teamwork requires a suite of skills including leadership, communication, adaptability, and an understanding of team dynamics. Unfortunately, these skills critical to progress are often overlooked in STEM preparation.
As a science and technology center, IMOD is particularly invested in solving big problems that require a team science approach. Led by Dr. Dan Morton, IMOD hosted a 5-session course on team science, “Building Better Teams.” During the course, researchers explored the core pillars of effective teamwork and received direct, actionable, and transferrable skills and tools to apply immediately to empower them in team situations to accelerate their personal and community progress.
Participants who attended all five sessions earned the Building Better Science Teams Certificate. This certificate indicates they are uniquely equipped to participate in and lead research teams.
