Dylan Ladd (IMOD – Toney) and Keenan Wyatt (CU Boulder – Toney) visited Morey Middle School in Downtown Denver, for a day to present on the properties of light to 8th grade physical science classes. Middle school students led a discussion on the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and the roles it plays in the real world. Dylan and Keenan demonstrated the major light-matter interactions such as absorption, refraction, and diffraction. The students were introduced to the scientific method and, given a research question, worked together to form a hypothesis for a light scattering experiment based on the demonstrations they were previously shown.
